As appeared in a recent NODA National News, on the very point that was discussed at our Meeting with Parents:

EASTERN AREA councillor Eric Smart has been letting rip in the area magazine. He says he is dismayed at the number of societies that continue to video their productions. He refers to one group for which the practice eventually led to bankruptcy.

With a note of despair, he asks: 'How can I get across that it breaks the law and can result in unimaginable penalties? You contract with the rightholders not to do it, and then blatantly flout that contract.

'You could be sued! Your show could be closed down! You could be prevented from hiring other shows from the rightsholder. You could go bust!'

And he gives the simple rule: don't video unless you have express permission from the rightsholder. The pity is, these amateur Steven Speilbergs won't be told ~ until it's too late, of course.
